The winter hit the load-in day hard and we had many vendors stranded all across the interstate but when the show started we had all of the vendors here and safe and sound. The weather abated and though cold , everyone was excited to start a new year and the 23rd Annual Bald Eagle Days.

The 2010 Bald Eagles Days is proud to feature Sculptor Ted McElhiney.
Ted McElhiney is no stranger to the Mississippi River. His father was born and raised on the Father of Waters at Pontoosuc, Illinois. His father, grandfather and uncle, when not fishing during the winter months, would guide wealthy Chicago businessmen on to spotted islands on the Mississippi for goose and duck hunting.
Ted's early career, after graduating from the Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Illinois in advertising design, centered around his own advertising agency for over thirty years. During that time he participated in many art projects.
He became seriously interested in wildlife art in the 70's and displayed many paintings and sculpture in prestigious shows, such as Easton Waterfowl Festival, Easton, Maryland - Tulsa Wildlife Exposition, Tulsa,Oklahoma and Charleston Waterfowl Exposition in Charleston, S.C. His unique approach to bronze became known and began a secondary career for him.
Today he is a well-known local bronze artist with many venues of subject matter. See his bronzes at VanderVeer Park, on the river in East Moline and Bettendorf, the Bix Plaza, Handicapped Development Center , to name a few.
He and his wife live overlooking the beautiful Mississippi River. The eagles fly in the winter and they are surrounded by wildlife.
